Puppymills

If you haven't already seen it, please visit this page http://www.coalitionagainstmisery.com/Puppymills.html and watch the Oprah show on Puppymills. Please forward to everyone on your e-mail list. This is the reason I am so passionate about Rescue. You will be forever changed after watching this show. It is difficult for many of us to see because of the content but it's important for everyone to know the truth. If you would like to help, please visit Milldog Rescue Network www.milldogrescue.org and make a donation to help them continue their work.

You do not have to buy a puppy from a pet store to support puppymills. All you have to do is spend money in stores that sell puppies. The profits they make are partly responsible for their ability to be able to stock more puppies in their windows. Do not buy toys, treats, books, food, ask for change or even go inside the store. Please BOYCOTT any and all stores that sell puppies. Write a letter to the head office of that business and tell them why you will not cross their threshold, why they will not get one single dime from you until they do the right thing and stop selling puppies in their store.

NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU, REPUTABLE BREEDERS DO NOT USE PET STORES TO FIND HOMES FOR THEIR PUPPIES.

100% of all puppies found in pet stores and feed marts are from backyard breeders and large scale puppymills. Reputable breeders get to know future owners and will not place their puppies with the first person who arrives at their door with the money in their hand, which is EXACTLY how pet stores and feed marts place the puppies in their care. With the first person who has the cash, or qualifies for credit.

Reputable breeders also support RESCUE! If you are looking for a puppy, I would be more than happy to help you find the breed that will best suit your home, activity level and lifestyle. I can then help you find a REPUTABLE breeder or Rescue Group who can then pair you with the right individual dog for you. If it means one person not buying a puppy in a pet store, I will crawl thru broken glass to help them find a puppy or adult dog from a reputable source.

Lily

A very special Iggy went to the Bridge yesterday. Her name was Lily and she was a puppymill Momma rescued from the Reedgate Auction two years ago. Please visit this link to read her story. http://www.milldogr%20escue.org/%20Lilys_Story.%20html

Milldog Rescue Network

Some of the Kansas 15 ( 8 of them, I believe ) were taken in by Milldog Rescue Network. www.milldogrescue.org They still have 6 of the IG's available for adoption, which make up the 17 total available dogs and the 10 new arrivals. We are still trying to work on a way to get two of them up to me for Fostering and adoption, but that may take several more weeks. Please visit the site to see the dogs and learn more about how the Volunteers are helping them.

Meanwhile, I would like to do a Woobie Roundup for Milldog Rescue Network. These dogs are a perfect example of why Foster Homes are in need of supplies. These dogs arrive with absolutely nothing. They need blankets, dishes, toys, leashes, collars, crates - all the basics. The issue of collars for the Italian Greyhounds is quite different from other breeds. Sighthounds can slip out of an ordinary buckle collar. They need what is called a Martingale. It is adjustable and designed so that they can't back out of it.

If you can send a donation of supplies or funds, please send it to :
